Pets are an essential part of the game, allowing you to get a flat increase to a specific stat.. Each pet does something different.
Each pet has a max level of 10. Once a pet reaches this level, if you get the Retirement Research, (Retirement Research unlocked from beating the Beast for the first time) you can get buffs for that specific stat permanently, and with enough retired pets, up EVERY stat permanently. Additionally, you can unlock a second pet slot by defeating the beast at the castle throne for the first time.
